My name is Gabriella.  I’m 26 years old and a PhD student, but I don’t feel that science is really what I want to do with the rest of my life.  It’s true that I like what I do in the lab, but it’s not my true passion.  I’m pretty sure what I really want to do with my life is drink tea, sit in my comfy chair, and knit sweaters for my soon-to-be husband, Jason.  I wish someone would pay me to do that.  Any takers?

My Etsy shop, La Piuma Bella, was started as an effort to raise wee funds for our wedding…which is coming up fast and we’re always out of cash.  Can I blame the economy?  Unfortunately, no.  I must blame my lack of restraint when shopping for shoes.  Or new beads for my jewelry.  I am really enjoying that the shop is all mine, though.  It’s nice to create fun things and have people buy them from you.

I hope that this blog will serve as a little window into my life.  Not the kind where you can see me running fully naked from the shower to my bedroom, just a little portal to give you a small glimpse of my insides.  I plan to share what I know about creating works of art (any kind of art), and my advice on how to get other people to love it as much as you do.

I guess writing that first entry wasn’t so hard after all.
